The role of the Work Skills Consultant is to assist high school resource teams in securing work placements for students with special needs. This is done through an assessment of the students’ needs and interests and in collaboration with the business community. Work opportunities are part of the student’s individual education plan (IEP).
The Work Skills Consultant also works with students and families to prepare them for a workplace environment. Students are assisted in acquiring work related skills and are supervised by school board personnel.
